Oesía, emotional technology

In just over a decade, Oesía has become one of the most celebrated Spanish multinationals in technology consulting, specializing in information technology, business process outsourcing, and advanced engineering and services. The company’s exponential growth has resulted from a strategy of select corporate acquisitions and international expansion, designed to create a large platform for providing high quality technology services in low cost locations. This has enabled the corporation to integrate 25 different companies into its group and extend its influence throughout Latin America, the U.S., Europe and the Middle East.

Oesía has roots in a company called IT Deusto, created in 2000 by a group of information technology companies. At the time, there were no indications that within less than a decade, this initiative would end up becoming one of the leading multinationals providing technology consulting, providing solutions for healthcare, industry, tourism, transportation, public administration, and defense.

In 2008, the company changed its name to Oesía. “In a sector as rational as that of technology, we chose a brand that has emotional resonance,” says Pablo Rodríguez, business development manager. Oesía resulted from removing the “P” from the Spanish word “poesía,” or poetry.

But the change in identity went beyond a change in company name. The company also adopted a more aggressive development strategy and a commitment to internationalization. Since 2008, Oesía has continued increasing its presence in Latin America and developing growth strategies for the U.S. and Europe. Today, 20% of its revenues, which totaled €225 million in 2009, come from international markets.
